Vendors, this post is for you. With hot weather upon us, many of you will choose to bring a canopy to shield you and your merchandise from the sun. It is very important that when setting up your booth for the day that the first tasks you attend to are your CANOPY & UMBRELLA WEIGHTS. We understand you are eager to unpack your merchandise, but if you are using a canopy, the first priority is safety. Do not leave your weights in your vehicle "to set up later". You may get busy and forget. Wind and wind gusts are an inherent part of of being outside and can occur at any time. Early in the day, the air may seem calm, but being in a wide open space, wind gusts can occur. As the day progresses, air currents from overhead planes and other weather conditions can also cause windy conditions.
Occasionally we may require canopies to be taken down due to weather conditions.

We like the EZ Up brand because, although more expensive, it is sturdier than cheaper brands and seems to stand up well in windy conditions. Inexpensive canopies can break in strong winds and will need to be replaced.

IT IS REQUIRED THAT YOU WEIGH DOWN ALL FOUR LEGS OF YOUR CANOPIES IMMEDIATELY UPON SET UP.  Over the years, we have learned that 40 pounds of weight ON EACH FRONT LEG are what it takes to keep your canopy stable. You do not want a wind gust to pick it up and send it flying into and damaging merchandise, vehicles, or worse-people. Our staff walks and drives around to ensure that you have the proper weights, and will require you to either rent our weights & straps for a nominal fee or take down your canopy. We charge $2 per weight and include a strap. There is a $20 deposit refundable upon return of the weights.

GUIDELINES: It is acceptable for each of the front 2 legs of your canopy (or center post of umbrella) to be securely attached to 40 pound weights (not 20 + 20). The back 2 legs may be tied to your vehicle with sturdy straps, rope, bungee cord, etc. A 5-gallon water container ties to each front leg is also acceptable. You can empty the water into the gully near the highway (not in the parking lot), as it will run into other vendor booths.
CANOPIES CANNOT BE SECURED TO YOUR TABLES OR MERCHANDISE! These items are not heavy enough and table weight will lessen as you sell more merchandise!
The following images are examples of acceptable and safe weights.
